Join us for the first session of the Strata Fundamental Series where we will explore Maintenance, Defects, and 10 Year Plans.

For Strata Fundamentals - Maintenance, Defects, and 10 Year Plan, we are offering 2 sessions at different levels. We thank our Event Partner, Perrott Painting, and Event Supporter, StrataLoans, for supporting this event.

Session One - General Session (Morning) | 9:00am - 1:00pm | 2.5 CPD Points 
Inclusions: Morning tea and lunch

This general session will provide an overview of Maintenance, Defects, and 10 Year Plans. This session is aimed at new to intermediate strata managers. The session will explain the difference between maintenance (routine repairs) and building defects, and offer great advice on how to manage them.  It highlights the new provisions in the Strata Titles Act and Regulations for these defects and whose responsibility it is to rectify them.

Speaker One | Elizna Pelser, Strata Elite

Elizna will discuss Maintenance, Defects, and Contractor Contracts. Elizna will outline the strata managers role in coordinating contractor requirements for projects in a strata scheme, including selecting and engaging contractors, contracts, and monitoring of contractor arrangements.

Speaker Two | Marietta Metzger, magixstrata 

Marietta will discuss 10 year plans and why they are necessary. Marietta will also outline the information required for 10 year plans, their legislative requirements, and the role of the strata manager for the implementation.

Session Two - Advanced Session (Afternoon) | 12:00pm - 4:00pm | 2.5 CPD Points

The afternoon session will explore trending issues related the topics of maintenance, defects, and 10 Year Plans. We will hear from some experts in these fields and explore the complexities of the topics. This session is targeted at senior strata managers and senior leaders.

Speaker One | Wal Dobrow, Managing Director at Reserve Fund Plans
With 10 Year Plan legislation now one year on, Wal will share some insights in difficulties producing and delivering them. He’ll also provide some sensible ways to save costs and what to do if there is over-expenditure of budget.

Speaker Two | David Clark, Director at Houspect 
David will clarify the difference between Construction Defects versus Maintenance Items and detail key documents required for managing construction defects in strata buildings.  He will also explain how to identify a construction defect and determine whose obligation it is to resolve them.

Speaker Three | Geoff Parnell, Managing Director at Aqumen Consulting
Geoff will give some excellent advice on choosing a contractor, what to include in a contractor scope of work and what to do if the work performed is unsatisfactory.  He will also step through the quoting/tendering and building work contract complaints processes.
