Presentation One | Strata Matters
Speaker: Sean Macfarlane, Lavan
Sean was Lead Advisor in Parliament to the Minister for Lands during debate and passage of the Strata Titles Amendment Bill 2018 and the Community Titles Bill 2018, the most significant reforms to property law in WA in over 20 years.
Sean was dedicated to the strata reforms for over six and a half years as Instructing Officer for the Strata Titles Amendment Bill 2018 and he instructed parliamentary drafters on the Community Titles Bill 2018 and the Strata Titles (General) Regulations 2019.

Speaker: Mark Atkinson, Atkinson Legal
According to the Law session highlights various aspects of the strata reforms that may not have been apparent on 1 May 2020. It also examines important recent cases presented to SAT and determines how the reforms are being applied to them. The legislation relating to Immobilisation, Towing and Detention of Vehicles is explained and offers alternatives when dealing with unauthorised parking in strata schemes.

Speaker: Anthony Quahe, Civic Legal
This presentation will look at how lot owners and strata professionals can better prepare for engaging in a dispute in the SAT. Anthony will cover some key decision-making tools that you can use before you take that step. He will give insights into what the SAT process looks like in practice, and what may help or hinder your chances of success.”
Presentation Three | Tangible Solutions for Resolving Strata Disputes
Speaker: Brenda Robbins, Murray Chambers
The session also demonstrates the benefits of mediation and how it can reduce financial loss, reach faster resolutions, and provide less stress. It will make clear the importance of having well written by-laws to prevent disputes from occurring or prevent them from escalating to legal action in the first place.
