Join us for the first session of the Strata Fundamental Series where we will explore Maintenance, Defects, and 10 Year Plans.  Strata 360 Defects is around Building & Apartment Defects.  We will explain the process of building a new strata complex, what entities are involved, the responsibility of each entity & how to identify & work through building defects.

Session One - Strata Fundamentals I Maintenance, Defects & 10 Year Plans (General) | 9:00am - 1:00pm | 2.5 CPD Points

Audience: Strata Community Manager Level 1

This session will provide an overview of what a strata managers role is in coordinating contractor requirements for projects in a strata scheme.  It includes selecting and engaging contractors, contracts and monitoring of contractor arrangements.

It will explain the difference between maintenance (routine repairs) and building defects and offer great advice on how to manage them.  It highlights the new provisions in the Strata Titles Act and Regulations for these defects and who is responsible to rectify them.

10 year plan’s will also be examined to understand why we need them, what information is required to be included in them, their legislative requirements, and the part a strata manager plays in assisting to implement them.

Session Two – Strata 360° Defects I A Property Services 360° view on Strata | 12:00pm - 4:30pm | 2.5 CPD Points

Audience : Strata Community Manager Level 2, Strata Community Manager Level 3a and 3b and Senior Strata Community Manager

In this highly interactive Q&A Panel Session, we will have industry experts including Scott Bellerby and Valerie Haskins to discuss the process of building a new strata complex, what entities are involved, the responsibility of each entity, and how to identify and work through building defects.

  • What are the statutory time frames when dealing with building defects?
